  1. This marriage appears to all be based on the death record of Elijah Parmenter, and as death records are notoriously inaccurate being based on informant's knowledge of the dead person (children give give their father's parents as their mother's, or vice versa), this may be incorrect in some ways. In particular, the age at death appears to differ significantly from the census taken just 7 years earlier and the other censuses for this man.

With a name like Elijah and a birth in Newton in Middlesex County, one would suspect he is a son of Person:Peter Parmenter (2) whose father was named Elijah, and whose census records for 1810 and 1820 suggests he had an otherwise unknown son born between 1804 and 1810.

No marriage record for Peter and Rebecca is found, which creates much uncertainty. Assuming this Elijah, who d. in Lancaster 1887, is the same Elijah who was living in Lancaster at the previous census in 1880 (as indicated above, the age mismatch is worrisome), his marriage record to Abby Warner names his parents as Peter and Hannah, which tends to agree with the above identification of the father, and suggest the mother was not named Rebecca.
