- ↑ Jonas' parents are named as as Peter and Betsey consistently in multiple records. The 1800 census for Peter shows two boys under 10, which would appear to be Peter b. 1790 and Jonas b. 1798, with no other young children. The gap in between makes it very possible Peter's first wife died and he got remarried.
However, this may be a typical error as is often found in death records. If, as believed, Person:Elijah Parmenter (3) belongs to the same father, then it is relevant to note that Elijah's marriage record names his parents as Peter and Hannah (though his death record says Peter and Rebecca - however, the marriage record, created while he was alive, would generally be considered more reliable), and it suggests Peter's first wife Hannah was still alive and perhaps Jonas' mother was not Betsey. This is all based on finding no sign of other likely Peter Parmenters to be the father and the fact that the census records show Peter had children of roughly the requisite ages.
