  2.   Source:Savage, James. Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England, Vol. 1, p. 452, makes several errors on this family which appear to be the result of carelessness or worse, either his, or by whatever source he used, possibly Bond (though if so, with minor editing). Of course, this statement is based on the printed Watertown Records, but as they are presented in the original order, the compilers, unlike Savage or Bond, would not have noticed any problems with dates, so had no reason to do other than transmit them as they read them.
*Regarding son Henry, Savage says: "Henry, 16 May 1664, d. soon; Henry, again, 6 Aug. 1665". The event recorded on 6 Aug 1665 is clearly the death of the first Henry (he "dyd"). There is no birth record for any other Henry. Mr. Bond makes the same error so Savage was probably just copying Bond. Bond mentions a settlement of the father's estate. It may be that a Henry is mentioned in that settlement, leaving Bond searching for a birth record, though he gives no such indication, nor is a second son Henry mentioned in Source:Coolidge, Emma Downing. Descendants of John and Mary Coolidge of Watertown, Massachusetts, 1630. It appears to simply be an error.
*Regarding Mary, Savage says: "Mary, 16 June 1667", even though the birth record is recorded on a page clearly dedicated to 1666, and a date in 1667 would conflict with the birth of Elizabeth, if Savage had chosen to use that as recorded. Bond says "Mary, b. June 16, 1666 or 7", but Savage seems to have chosen to transmit just one of Bond's choices.
*Regarding Elizabeth, Savage says: "Eliz. 1669, d. soon". This seems to be echoing Bond's "Elizabeth, b. and d. 1669". However, Elizabeth's birth is recorded 21 Mar 1666 [presumably 1666/67?] and her death is recorded 30 Jul 1669.
If double-dating is applied to Elizabeth's birth, as suggested, Elizabeth's birth is only 9 months after Mary, which makes one wonder if that record was put on the wrong page. It is the next to last entry on the page, which is about what one would expect for such an error. But that is only true of this one birth. The other births in question appear unremarkable in this regard, falling in the middle of the page, so unlikely to have been misfiled. What appears to have happened is that misreading Henry's death as the birth of a second son named Henry, suggested that Mary's birth be pushed back (Bond: 1666 or 7, which Savage changed to 1667), which in turn invalidated the reported birth of Elizabeth. So the dates appear to have been changed without warning or explanation to something the author thought more suitable.
