Mordica Meador and Jemima his wife were paid $2000 by John C Pharis for land in Sumter County, AL Fractional No. 20 in Fractional T19 R1E, containing 89 and 69/100 acres more or less in District of Demopolis Land Office Signed 17 June 1837, Mordica Meador, Jemima Meador
↑ 2.02.1 Jemima was the wife of a Mordecai Meador who lived in Sumter, Alabama in 1837. There were two Mordecai Meadors living in Sumter County at that time: Mordecai M. Meador, and Mordecai J. Meador. Jemima has traditionally been assumed to the the wife of Mordecai M. Meador, although without documentation.
The association of Jemima with Mordecai M. Meador may be because so little information about Mordecai J. Meador has been readily available, and what little information has been available has tended to be conflated with information for Mordecai M. Meador.
What information is currently available tends to suggest that Jemima was actually the wife of Mordecai J. Meador, although it is not currently definitive. (See his page.)
