  1. When Michael Palkovich died in America, Julia returned to her family in Hungary with her three young children. My mom, Anna Palkovich, was about 8 years old. My mom went to school in Hungary, learned Hungarian, and forgot all her English. A few years later Julia remarried (Franz) Toth,( a distant cousin?). My Mom told me that her grandfather ate potato soup every morning for breakfast. My mother remembered once going to a wedding with her family. The music was played by gypsies. She was caught dancing with one, however her family reprimand her, and told her they did not mix with the gypsies. She remembered being locked in the cellar once. I had the impression she was very unhappy in Hungary. I remember being told Grandmother (Julia) was one of 12 children. My grandmother was born and raised a Greek Catholic. When she married my grandfather, she started practicing the Roman rite.
