  3. There is little doubt that Micah Pratt and Mary Gale m. 1731, as the wedding is recorded in the towns of both principals. However, Micah and Mary had children in Oxford, Mass. born in 1733, 1735, 1738, 1742, 1744, 1746, 1749, 1751, 1752. Not bad for a woman baptized in 1689: 10 children born when she is of age 44 to 63!

Now there are plenty of secondary sources that agree with this scenario. Source:Daniels, George F. History of the Town of Oxford, Massachusetts, p. 1:515, says "Mary [Gale], sister of Ebenezer, baptized 1689, m. Micah Pratt." NEHGR, p. 18:190, "The Gale Family" by George Gale, says Mary, d/o Abraham Gale, bp. Apl. 1689 m. Nov. 3, 1731, "Michael" Pratt of Oxford, which he repeats in Gale Family Records. And Source:Bond, Henry. Family Memorials. Genealogies of the Families and Descendents of the Early Settlers of Watertown, Massachusetts, Including Waltham and, p. 1:229, pretty much parrots George Gale, but at least he has the good sense to add "(?)" next to the marriage.

The strong suspicion here is that we have somehow missed a generation. The most probable case is that there is a different, younger "Mary Gale of Watertown", perhaps a niece. However, the Watertown records don't show a Mary Gale born between 1689 and 1731. There is a promising 4-year gap from 1705 to 1709 in the sequence of births in Family:Abraham Gale and Rachel Parkhurst (1), but not a shred of evidence that they had a daughter named Mary. Micah and Mary didn't even have the kindness to name a daughter either Sarah (after Mary's putative mother) or Rachel (after the just mentioned alternate) to help us identify which of the two Abraham Gales it was that their son was named after. So, until some evidence turns up, we will have to go with the conventional wisdom, which says Mary got married at 42 and started popping out kids like a twenty year old.
