When Leonard regiatered for the draft for World War I, he was living in Monroeville, Indiana. He was a farmer working for himself. He was married with one child. He was described as of medium height and stout build with brown eyes and brown hair.

Leonard and Eva had eight children, six daughters and two sons.

In 1920, Leonard and Eva were living in Jackson Township in Allen County, Indiana. They had two daughters, Helen and Evelyn.

In 1930, Leonard and Eva were still living in Jackson Township with eight children, Helen, Evelin, Reita, Edwin, Joseph, Ruth, Blanch, and Pauline.

When Leonard registered for the draft for World War II, he was living at R. R. #1, Monroeville, Indian. He was 49 years old. His next of kis was his wife, Mrs. Eva Mourey.

Leonard's obituary reads, "CRASH VICTIM DIES; COUNTY'S 37TH FATALITY. Leonard Mourey, 54, of near Monroeville became Allen County's thirty-seventh traffic fatality yesterday morning. He died from injuries received in an auto crash Thursday evening at the Maple and Monroeville Roads. An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death. After the accident sherif's investigators reported that the Mourey car had run a stop sign and had been struck by a semi-trailer truck driven by Ed Busick. The body was taken to the Ternet Funeral Home in New Haven and will be taken to the residence on the Howe Road near Monroeville where friends may call after 7 p.m. today. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon. Surviving are the widow, Eva; seven daughters, Mrs. Alban Jacquay, Monroeville, and Mrs. Merlin Girardot, Mrs. Gilbert Coonrod and Mrs. Elmer Schaefer, Fort Wayne, Sister Mary Evelyn, Huntington, and the Misses Pauline and Maxine Mourey, at home; four sons, Joseph, Fort Wayne, and Edwin, James and Richard, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Mourey, New Haven; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Oberley and Mrs. Elmer Oberley of New Monroeville, and Mrs. Cloise Snyder, Convoy, O.; two brothers, Paul, New Haven, and Francis, Fort Wayne, and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the residence." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Sunday 27 July 1947, pg. 6]

Eva's obituary reads, "MRS. EVA C. MOUREY. Mrs. Eva C. Mourey, 77, of 4421 Spatz Ave., died at 4 p.m. yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Rorick, 5106 Coldwater Road. Born in Jefferson Township, she had lived in Fort Wayne 19 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Rosary Sodalities of both Sacred Heart and St. Louis Catholic Churches. She was also an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. Surviving besides the daughter at whose home she died, are six daughters, Mrs. Helen Jacquay, R. R. 1, Monroeville, Sister Evelyn, O.L.V.N., Denver, Colo., Mrs. Lita Gerardot, R. R. 7, Fort Wayne, Mrs. Ruth Ann Coonrod, R. R. 1, Monroeville, Mrs. Blanch Schaefer, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Pauline Klinker, Payne, Ohio; four sons, Edwin Mourey, R. R. 2, New Haven, Joseph and James Mourey, both of Fort Wayne, and Richard Mourey, Churubusco; a sister, Mrs. Albert Momper, New Haven; 76 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at E. Harper and Son Funeral Home, New Haven, and at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, the Rev. Andrew Mathieu officiating. Burial will be in St. Louis' church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today. The Rosary will be recited Monday, at a time to be announced." They are both buried in the Besancon Cemetery at St. Louis Catholic Church at New Haven, Indiana.
