John and Margaret (Smith) Pattison came to America in 1828 to claim inherited lands from his uncle, Dr. Alexander Stewart, at Union Twp, Lawrence Co, PA. John Pattison was a cottonspinner according to his marriage license. Margaret lived in Barony, Lanarkshire, Scotland. The Pattisons have a family plot at Greenwood Cemetery in New Castle, PA which includes all eight children and spouses, (except Amos Bechtol, who had a headstone, but is buried in another cemetery in Steubenville, Ohio) and the stone was imported from Glasgow; this is a four-sided monument;each of the children has an individual headstone.
