It is said by his progeny, that John D was a hard man. There is a story that John D. had the brothers put plow gear on Loueasie and she would plow the fields with boys driving. When John D died, the atmosphere was more festive than somber - his granddaughter Roszella remembers that there was lots of giggling during the days following his death.
