Is this the correct man and wife? Was Mary's maiden name Ball? Findagrave indicates her maiden name was Patton. Other records indicate they lived in Lunensburg and Pittsylvania Counties, Virginia. How would Lancaster County, Virginia factor in? This may be a different coupble. If Williamson Ball was the groom's brother and guardian, then John Ball was under the age of 21 at marriage. Lettice Ball is listed as mother of the bride. It does not indicate if Mary was a minor or of majority age, but having her mother listed seems to indicate that Mary was under 18. If this was a second marriage for Mary Patton she may have been Mary Patton Ball when she married John Ball, but the listing of her mother as Lettice Ball seems to disprove this hypothesis.
