Family History
Casper Writer and Eve Kortright were married on 8 September 1772,[1][5] possibly at Phillipsburg, Orange co., New York.
On 17 August 1790, Casper Writer was one of fifty people petitioning for a grant, by right of occupancy, of a tract of about 7000 acres of land in the town of Mamakating, Ulster co.; he was on a return of survey of 200 acres of land each on 10 September of the next year.[4] Jasper Righter and his family were enumerated in the same town for the first U.S. census in 1790.[3]
