Identification of the brothers Willett, Orrin, Asa and John Arnold comes from the 1850 US census where they are living together.

Identification of their older brother William Arnold comes from the 1910 US census where Orrin Arnold's son Francis was enumerated with his cousin Willett Arnold, son of William.

Identification of the sister Mary comes from the 1860 US census where her brother Willett is living with her, and the 1880 census where her mother is living with her.

Identification of their parents comes from the biography of Willett C. Arnold in the Biographical History of Northern Michigan, published while he was still living. Presumably he identified his parents to the authors.
