... 8. Howell, born March 5, 1758 and died c.1789; married Ann. There is another Howell Hines, born September 5, 1747, son of David Hines (died 1789), who was married in Sussex County, Virginia on August 21, 1777 to Nancy Collier, daughter of Sampson Collier, who should not be confused with the individual here being discussed. The birth of each Howell Hines is reported in Albemarle Parish Register, Surry & Sussex Counties, Virginia 1739-1778, by Richards, with the parents of each Howell listed, so there is no confusion as to which Howell belongs to which family. The only confusion that can arise is in the subsequent families. The will of this Howell Hines is filed in Southampton County, Virginia, dated November 4, 1789 and entered for record December 18, 1789, in which his family is named. Deed Book 4, page 349, in Southampton County, contains references to his wife Ann, and his children as well. ...

    ... Howell's children were:

    a. Dolly C. (or Polly C.), married in Greensville County, Virginia to Robert Dupree on August 16, 1797
    b. Sarah
    c. Elizabeth C. ...
