Henry's obituary reads, "HENRY SLATER SUCCUMBS - TEAMSTER DIED SUDDENLY AT AGE OF SEVENTY-NINE - Henry Slater, aged 79, died suddenly at 7 o'clock today at his home, 1340 Forest avenue. He succumbed while sitting in a chair. Mr. Slater was born in Ohio and lived here nearly all his life, being employed by the city as a teamster for 20 years. He was a member of the Baptish church. Surviving are his widow, Lucy; eight children, Harvey C., Mrs. Horace J. Malcolm, Mrs. Robert Linsky, Mrs. John H. Waldman and Alozo White, a stepson, all of Fort Wayne; Frank Slater, Goshen; and Mrs. Martin Sheridan, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. William Gowen, Battle Creek, Mich.; one brother, Alfeus, of Pleasant Lake; one sister, Mrs. Milton C. Watson, of Fort Wayne, and 21 grandchildren. The body will be taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. John H. Waldman, 2416 Maumee avenue, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock for funeral services, which will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial in the Odd Fellows cemetery at New Haven."
