HENRY HUNTER, b 1825, Philadelphia Village, Jeff. Co, NY, d. Jan 1864, Kalaroma Hospital, Wash DC of small pox, (in Civil War), wife (name unknown) had moved to Chariton, Lucas Co, Iowa, so his body was returned there for burial. He is shown as from Orleans, NY (included in Civil War records of Orleans/4 Corners in 1863), enlisted Sept 11, 1862, serving as a private, age 37, in Company G, NY 10th Heavy Artillery Regiment,(Black River Artillery; Jefferson County Regiment) under Capt. Russell B. Biddlecom, age 40, . Note: the 10th Heavy Artillery was sent to defend Washington DC. Henry Hunter died in Wash DC of smallpox Jan. 14, 1864.
