FHL Catalog Entry

Notes from the FHL Catalog entry on The Farwell family S2 include this:

Henry Farwell (ca. 1605-1670) son of William Farwell, married Olive Welby, daughter of Richard and Frances Buckley Welby, at Boston, England, in 1629. The had six children, 1630-ca. 1645. The family immigrated to New England ca. 1636; settled first at Concord, Massachusetts; and moved to Chelmsford, Massachusetts, ca. 1655. He died at Chelmsford. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, Illinois, and elsewhere.

Supposed Sons Henry and James

"Fox, in his history of Dunstable, omits the name of Joseph as one of the children of Henry Farwell1 and records Henry3 as the son of Henry1, thus omitting a generation—Savage, Kidder, Farmer and others have been misled by this mistake. A similar error has caused some genealogists to give James as one of the sons of Henry1, but there is no evidence at all that Henry Farwell, the progenitor of the American family, had either a son Henry or a son James."[2]
