The witness Mary Marshall was probably Sarah's nephew's wife, Mary Biggs, who had married Sarah's brother William's son Joseph earlier that year. Mary Biggs had been lodging in the same house as Sarah in the 1851 census. There was also a Mary Marshall lodging with them at that time (Joseph's sister), but she had died in 1852. The other witness, John Harris, was the head of the household in which Sarah and the two Marys had been lodging.
