Family:Heinrich Kähler and Anna Otzen (1)

Heinrich and Anna were married in Germany, possibly in Flensburg. They had eight known children. Three were born in Germany, one died at sea during the Atlantic crossing, and four more were born in Pennsylvania.

The Kählers arrived in New York in 1849 on the ship Rhein, which sailed from Hamburg. Sadly, Anna's father and one of their children died at sea. The Kählers lived first in Erie, Pennsylvania and later in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. They emigrated to Canada after 1860. Heinrich accepted pastorates at several locations in Canada. The family's last post was in Preston, Canada, where they died and are buried. Their two sons became Lutheran ministers and moved to the United States.
