Heinrich was a Lutheran minister. He accepted pastorates at several locations in Pennsylvania and Canada. His last post was in Preston, Canada, where he died and was buried.

At the time of Heinrich's birth, Holstein was a province of Denmark. Until 1864 Wandsbek was a part of the Duchy of Holstein and under the rule of the King of Denmark. Afterwards, it became part of the Prussian province Schleswig-Holstein.
