[JCdillard.GED] George and Clarac were married in his home on the southeast corner ofWalker and Houghton Streets by Reverend J.F. McLean, a Baptist ministerof Reagan and Blue Ridge. They lived there for five years until Claractold him not to come home if he could not find a better place to live.George walked down around the corner and located a house at 525 GiftStreet and Woodland Alley, purchasing the front three-fourth acre lot in1900, and the back three-fourth acre lot in 1917. They built a carriagebarn, planted an orchard, pecan trees, gardens, and a berry patch. Theyhad a well and a cistern, a workshop, storeroom, and a smoke house, andhad a guest house in the back. George had blue eyes and dark hair that never turned gray. He wasinterested in political and local affairs, always voting until hisdeath. He was a cotton and corn farmer, and ginner -- working at thattrade while in California for three years. In 1916, George and Orr A.Edwards, son of Margie (Dillard) Edwards, was a Jackson cousin of Clarac,bought two sections of land at Encinal, Texas. "Yad" subsequently soldout to George, and the land remained in the family until 1968 when hisdaughter sold it. George and Clarac Woodland had only one child: Alma ClaracWoodland. She married Kit Carson Pratt. Their only child was AlmaLavonne (Pratt) Rogers. References
