Date of Marriage

Frances may have forgotten the exact date/year of her marriage, as she indicated in her pension application.[2] However, if she had reported the actual date of her marriage, on or after 16 Sep 1797,[1] she would not have qualified for a pension.[3] Her memory lapse may have been more or less intentional. Unfortunately, her statement has been taken at face value by many researchers and copied by others.
