In 1942, when he registered for the draft for World War II, they were living at 2027 S. Harrison Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was self-employed at 2008 S. Calhoun Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They were members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Eugene was 66 years old when he died. Eugene's obituary reads, "Eugene F. Martin, 66, of 2027 South Harrison St., died at 6 p.m. yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital where he had been admitted two days ago. He had been ill nine months. A native of Monroeville, he had resided in Fort Wayne most of his life and was an accountant. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Holy Name Society. Survivors are the widow, Ruth; a son, Rowland, Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Miller, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Arend, Hicksville, Ohio, Mrs. Catherine Arend, Fort Wayne, Mrs. Lila Dawson, Monroeville; three brothers, Paul, Monroeville, Nicholas and William, both of Fort Wayne; a half-brother, Julian, and a half-sister, Mrs. Laura Young, also of Fort Wayne. Friends may call at the Mungovan & Son Mortuary after noon Sunday. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. A nephew, the Rev. William Martin, LaPorte, will officiate, and interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, 2 March 1957] Ruth was 75 years old when she died. MRS. RUTH M. MARTIN. Services for Mrs. Ruth M. Martin, 75, of 2027 S. Harrison St., will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mungovan & Sons South Chapel, and at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Rev. Bruce A. Schutt officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Martin died at 10:40 p.m. Friday in Parkview Memorial Hospital. She formerly operated Martin's Curb Service and was a lifelong Allen County resident. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and its Rosary Society. Her husband, Eugene, died in 1957. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Thelma R. Miller of Fort Wayne; one son, Roland E. of Indianapolis; and two sisters, Mrs. Nicholas Martin of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Frances Krominaker of New Haven. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Rosary services will be at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Monday. They are both buried in Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Indiana. References
