    Gertrude Adelia Reed, m. Apr. 2, 1867, Rev. Elvero Greenleaf Persons, LL. B., and D.D., of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Dr. Persons was graduated from the Law Department of the Michigan University (Ann Arbor), 1868, with the degree of LL. B. Entered the ministry, (North Ohio Conference) as above, 1868. Ohio Wesleian University conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity, 1894. He has served churches in Ohio as follows: Tiffin, Sandusky, Bellevue, Norwalk, Ashland, Mt. Vernon, Wooster, Norwalk (again), Gallon, Delaware, Tiffin (again), Berea, Mt. Gilead, and Plymouth, Richland Co., 0H, his residence in 1906. He enlisted in the 18th Mich. Vol's Aug. 22, 1862. Was 1st Lieut, on staff of General A. L. Chetlain; Cap. 14th Colored Infantry, 1865-6; Judge Advocate in the Dept. of Tenn., 1865-6. He was Presiding Elder of Wooster District, 1883-7; Mansfield District, 1894-1900; delegate to the General Conference of 1888 held in New York City. Children: (Persons) Elbert Elvero, b. Norwalk, 0., Apr. 15, 1876; Alice Lora, b. Ashland. 0., Dec. 10, 1877; Victor Smith, b. Ashland, 0., Dec. 5, 1878; Christopher Edgar, b. Mt. Vernon, 0., Jan. 30, 1882; Vincent John, b. Wooster, O., Aug. 27, 1884. — Dr. Elbert Elvero Persons, a surgeon and Captain in the U. S. Army, m. Oct. 22, 1903, Helen Lapsley of McAfee, Mercer Co., Ky. Stationed, 1906, at Fort Flagler, Jefiferson Co., Wash'n. Dr. Persons was graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University (A. B.) 1891; North western Medical College, 1897; Wesley Hospital, Chicago, 111., 1898. Served as surgeon in Florida, Georgia, Manilla, Japan, Ft. Snelling, Minn., and Ft. Flagler, as above. Children: Elbert Lapsley, b. Sep. 23, 1904, at Ft. Flagler. Dr. John Reed Persons, a practicing physician and surgeon, unm. Res. '06, Castle Rock, Cowlitz Co., Wash'n. Alice Lora, a teacher, was grad. from Ohio Wesleyan University (A. B.) 1899. Taught French in Ohio Wesleyan 1902-1903; was in Germany and France, 1903-04. Victor Smith Persons, a civil engineer, was graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University (A. B.) 1899. 1906, his address is Cairo, Egypt. He is a consulting engineer of the Chicago Egyptian Expedition. Christopher Edgar Persons was graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University 1901. Teacher of English in Government School at Kumamota, Japan 1901-2. Resided, 1906, at 5311 Madison Ave., Chicago, Ill.
