  3. Source:Hudson, Charles. History of the Town of Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, p. 409, adds to this family "John ? b. ---; m. March 11, 1696, Mary Eames". Source:Ward, Andrew Henshaw. History of the Town of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, p. 339, calls John "sup[posed] s. of Elias, of Sud[bury]". Both are wrong. His age at death, Shrewsbury VRs, p. 261, give his death 31 Mar 1768, aged 93 y, 7 m, which places his birth about Aug 1674. This not only conflicts with other children of Elias, but perfectly matches the birth of son of Solomon in Chelmsford VRs, p. 86. Likewise, the comment in the death record says that John lived with his wife for 72 years. This matches perfectly the marriage of John Keyes to Mary Eames in 1696. That John was the son of Solomon explains the use of Solomon and Stephen as children's names by John and Mary, per Marlsborough VRs, p. 121.
