DAVID DAYTON (aka DATEN in last will, or Daton), b. 1730, Brookhaven/Setauket, Long Island, Suffolk, NY, likely d 1782 Great Eggharbor, Glouchester, NJ? m. June 5, 1760 in Gt. Egg Harbor, NJ to Anne Francis, b 1733. Per "NJ Marriage Records 1665-1800" , edited by William Nelson, lists David Paton [misspelled], Gt. Egg Harbor to Anne Frances, Gt. Egg Harbor, on that date 1760. Note: David Daytons's marriage in Gt. Egg Harbor confirms this is the correct person. "David Dayton, lived near his brother Norton in Setauket, L.I.; probably the David Dayton of Suffolk County who d. before 26 June 1782, when administration on his estate was granted to his wife Anne; his wife is said to have been of French descent". His father Henyr Daten/Henry Dayton's last will says: "I give to my well beloved son David Daten my tract of land in Eggharbour in the County of Gloucester that I bought of Jeremiah Adams, to him his heirs & assignes for their own proper use forever... "
