Daniel's obituary reads, "D.J. Barkley, 63, of 2805 Hoagland Avenue, died at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Barkley had been employed for 32 years with the Pennsylvania Railroad until his health failed a year ago. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, of the I.O.O.F. No. 14 and of the Maccabees. Surviving are the widow, Jennie; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Smitley of Hoagland and Mrs. James Stevenson of Middlebury, and two brothers, Ira Barkley of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Dayton Barkley of Hoagland. The body was taken to the Chalfant-Perry and Pook Funeral Home where friends may view it after tonight. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the home, Rev. George W. Allison officiating. Burial will be in the New Haven I.O.O.F. Cemetery." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Friday 1 July 1938, pg. 8]

Jennie was 89 years old at the time of her death. She was living at 2805 Hoagland Avenue in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church, WSCS, the Tulip Chapter of the Garden Club, and the Martha Club.

Jennie's obituary reads, "Mrs. Jenny P. Barkley, 89, 2805 Hoagland Ave. died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday at her home following a six month illness. A lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, she was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church; WSCS; the Tulip Chapter of the Garden Club; and the Martha Club. Her husband, B.J. Barkley, died in 1938. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Dennis and Mrs. Edna Somers, both of Fort Wayne; and Mrs. Minnie Presuhn, Hoagland; and a brother, H.O. Falls, Wolcottville. The body was taken to the Chalfant-Perry Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, the Rev. Robert Bieber and the Rev. Paul Stephensen officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven." [Journal Gazette, Monday July 6, 1959, pg. 2]
