Children
Carl and Mary had nine children, four sons and five daughters. Mary's obituary reads, "MARY C. OTTENWELLER, 68, died at 1:07 p.m. Saturday at Parkview Memorial Hospital within hours after attending a special Mass celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary. She was born and lived all her life in Jefferson Township. She was a homemaker and worked at General Electric Co. during World War II. Surviving are her husband, Carl; four sons, Stephen, Philip and David, all of New Haven, and William of Fort Wayne; five daughters, Sandy Mercer of Fort Wayne, and Sue Jacquay, Rose Marie Minnick, Sharon Blauvelt and Christine Graham, all of New Haven; four sisters, Delores Lamont of New Haven, Eileen Renier and Jackie Roehling, both of Fort Wayne, and Sister Rita Clair of Chicago; two brothers, Wilbur Gerardot of Fort Wayne and George Gerardot of New Haven; 29 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 U.S. 30 East, and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Old Lincoln Highway East. Calling from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with rosary service at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial in the church cemetery. Memorials to donor's choice or Masses to the church."
