Balser was 70 years, 5 months and 10 days old when he died.

Balser's obituary reads, "Funeral services for Balser Ort, 70, 409 Madison St. who died early Monday following an extended illness will be held Thursday at 8:30 am at July Schone Funeral Home and at 9 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. Nicholas Allgeier officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery. A resident of this city since 1921, he drove truck for Sinclair Oil for 20 years and later served as station attendant at the Alter Brothers Gasoline Station. He was a member of St. Mary's and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are the wife, Mary, 6 sons, Cyril, Edgar, Howard, Joseph, and William of Fort Wayne and Wilford of Los Angeles; 2 daughters, Theresa at home and ...; 1 brother, Ira Ort of Jackson, MI, 1 sister Mrs. Gertrude Swain, Jackson and 2 half brothers, Sam Armbruster, Jackson and William Ort, Hartford City. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Tuesday 21 Dec 1948, pg. 4]

Mame was 83 years old when she died.

Mame's obituary reads, "Mrs. Mary Ort, 83, died at 4 a.m. yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Koehnlein, with whom she lived the past 13 years. She had been ill one week. Born in Gar Creek, she was a lifelong resident of Allen County. She was a member of the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church Rosary Society. Surviving besides the daughter are six sons, Cyril, Edgar P., Howard B., Joseph P., and William W., all of Fort Wayne, and Wilfred T., Los Angeles; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. The body was taken to the C. M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at 9 in the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, the Rev. Alfred H. Meyers officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary Society will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Monday 3 August 1959, pg. 2]

They are both buried at Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
