First Marriage TOWNSEND-ANDERSON The marriage of Miss Viola Elin Charlotte Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson of Ellsworth Street, and Mr. Arthur George Townsend, son of Mr. George A. Townsend of Bethel took place Saturday afternoon a 4 o'clock in the Swedish Lutheran Church. Rev. S. L. Hanson of Middletown performed the ceremony. The church was decorated with cedars, mountain laurel and cut flowers. Mrs. Alfreda Hoglund played the wedding music and Mr. George W. Jones sang "O Promise Me" and "Because" The bride was given in marriage by her father and was attended by her cousin, Miss Betty Anderson, as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Edith Swanson of Hartford and Miss. Ann Sahlberg of Glastonbury. The bride wore a gown of white angel skin lace over satin made princess style with a train and long puffed sleeves. Her tulle veil fell from a cap of Chantilly lace and was caught with orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of roses, lilies of the valley and gardenias. The maid of honor's gown was of aquamarine chiffon with a jacket of the same material. Her turban and shoes matched her gown and she carried a bouquet of talisman roses. The bridesmaids wore gowns of flesh color chalk crepe with jackets to match. Their turbans and shoes matched their gowns and they carried arm bouquets of mixed garden flowers. Mr. Walter M. Townsend, brother of the bridegroom, was best man and the ushers were Mr. Arthur H. Anderson and Mr. George Anderson, brothers of the bride, Mr. Thomas Calnan and Mr. Lewis Schuyler. A reception followed the ceremony in the church parlors which were decorated with cut flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Townsend left for an unannounced wedding trip, the bride wearing for traveling a suite of heaven blue roshanara crepe trimmed with tan fur and with accessories to match. The bride is a graduate of the Hartford Hospital Training School.
