Emma was 27 years old when she died. She had been ill for one year. Emma's obituary reads, "Mrs. Emma Gladieux, 27, died Saturday morning at her home in Jefferson township, following an illness of one year. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic church at Besancon. Surviving are her husband, Arthur J. Gladieux; five sons, Kenneth, Richard, Basil, Ronald and Adrian; one daughter, Monica Therese; parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Jacquay; two sisters, Mrs. Justin Gladieux and Mrs. Clarence Roy; one brother, Lester Jacquay. Funeral services will be held at the residence Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock and at 9:30 o'clock at St. Louis Catholic church. Burial in the church cemetery." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Sunday 29 Apr 1928, pg. 29] Arthur's obituary reads, "HOLD SERVICES THURSDAY FOR ARTHUR GLADIEUX. Funeral services for Fort Wayne City Street Commissioner Arthur Gladieux will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Tom Mungovan Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The V. Rev. Msgr. John Bapst will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery, Besancon. Mr. Gladieux, who resided at 504 E. Taber St., died at 1:25 a.m. yesterday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was 60. A native of Jefferson Township, he came to Fort Wayne in 1932. Mr. Gladieux served as a representative in the State Legislature in 1936-37. A precinct committeeman, he once was a delegate to the Republican National Convention. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the FOE and the UTC. His wife, Emma, died in 1928. Surviving are four sons, Kenneth A., Richard L., and Adrian J., all of Fort Wayne, and Basil I., San Francisco; a daughter, Mrs. John O'Connor, Fort Wayne; his mother, Mrs. Josephine R. Gladieux, Fort Wayne; eight brothers, Justine F., Clement L., Louis H., Ralph E. and Ernest S., all of Fort Wayne, Clyde e., New Haven, and Nelson W. and Virgil A., both of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd E. Parnim, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Harry J. Thorp, Angola; and 14 grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today."
