Welcome to the William Bloom Family History Book page, your source for the latest information on the forthcoming book and web site.

The Book

William Bloom (1752-1828) is an American immigrant, who sailed to America from Germany as an infant. His family settled in Huntingdon County, New Jersey. Later William would be among the earliest settlers and the progenitor of the most prominent family of Clearfield County, PA. His and his wife Mary Ann Mettler's descendents now number in the tens of thousands and their far-reaching influence have spread to every corner of the country and elsewhere.

Lee Bloom a fourth great-grandson of William is writing a book and has for several years researched extensively William's descendents and especially his ancestry to find out more about the origins and story of William's parents Johann Peter (1731-1814) and Eva Ann (Wagner) Blum.

Lee is writing the book in hopes that future generations of the Bloom family descendents will no longer wonder who their ancestors really were.  There is a great deal of misinformation on the origins of William's family, where they came from in Europe, and who we can trace our lineage to.  Depending on whose data you see, it's unclear with any certainty who William's grandparents were. There is even some question as to whether the Blooms journey to America actually began in Germany. Instead Germany may have been a point along the way, the family originating their trip from somewhere else in Europe. To get to the root of it all Lee has hired the services of a German investigator.  He's received the investigator's initial report and documentation, but the investigation is digging a further in hopes of acquiring even more definitive information.

More than just 'Begats', and family trees, Lee says he will describe the Bloom ancestors as real people with real lives, more than just names and dates. That said Lee in his research travels has collected a lot of documentation from court records and other sources which will allow him to create a story about the Bloom family never available before.  Based on the documents and other sources he believes he will be able to accomplish his goal.

The book publication date is tentaively set for January of 2013.

The Web Site

In addition to the book a Bloom family history and genealogy web site will be created.  The site will be a comprehensive, central repository on the Internet for the basic data on "all-things Bloom".  It's envisioned to grow to be the world-wide digital headquarters for ALL the descendants of the Bloom family line beginning with William's most likely ancestry per Lee's German research.

The web site's beautiful design and layout -- that is easily navigated -- will contain many features not seen before on anyother online Bloom web site. Nothing will come even close to what you will find on this site, and with the book will be well-worth waiting for.

The Bloom family web site could appear on the Internet prior to publication of the book.

More details will be posted here as it develops.
