WeRelate:Suggestions/Adding of Baptism/Burial date field on 'add person' page

In dealing and adding many new English records, which rarely have a true birth/death date, it would be a bit easier on me if 'Christening/Baptism' and 'Burial' dates were an option on the 'Enter what you Know' add a person page. Right now the only options are Birth and death dates. Daniel Maxwell 14:39, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Easier for people editing old pages too. --Goldenoldie 15:25, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

I assume it would be more cost-effective overall to implement changes to the "Add a Person" page once. Could you please consider combining this with Streamline Add Person and implementing both at the same time? Thanks --DataAnalyst 16:52, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Personally, I feel adding further information to the handy "Add a Person" window or to its search data fields is unnecessary, unwarranted and has little value added when compared to the programming cost of doing so, now that program improvements have a cost factor associated with them. I do not remember a single time when I added a person and wanted the program to search for baptismal or burial dates. A guestimate of the birth year has always sufficed when I didn't know the actual birth date. And, if you got your wish and it was added, in the absence of a birthdate and death date, I have a feeling that the baptismal and burial date fields would most likely key in on birthdates and death dates anyway in the search parameters. If you only have the baptismal and/or burial dates, you can always add them when you enter your new person and hit the search button again. Therefore, I would recommend investing costly programming dollars to other programming improvements. Just my opinion. --BobC 20:27, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

This suggestion has been implemented. You can now enter a birth or christening date, and a death or burial date when adding a new person.--Dallan 21:32, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
