Image license [7 August 2008]

Hi, I am an admin for WeRelate. I noticed you had a question about your images.

I marked them as "low resolution copies of unique historical photo graphs."

Generally, the rule for "fair use" of family photos is:

a. the image either is significantly lower resolution than the original or the image is a small snippet of the original, and
b. the photograph depicts a non-reproducible historic subject, and no free alternative exists or can be created, and
c. of no larger and of no higher quality than is necessary for the illustration of an article, and
d. the use of the image on WeRelate is not expected to decrease the value of the copyright.

I need a little more information if you don't agree with them being "low resolution unique historical photographs" before I can choose an appropriate license. Please answer as many of these questions as possible.

1. Do you know approximately when the photo was taken?
2. Do you know who took the photo? When the photographer died?
3. What was the original size of the image?
4. Is the image a part of a larger whole?

Please respond by clicking on my user name at the end of this message and select Leave a message. Thanks.  :-)--sq 17:34, 7 August 2008 (EDT)

Leslie Family - Puslinch [5 April 2009]

My wife's mother was a Leslie from the Puslinch area so I know a bit about the Leslies. By far the most knowledgable though is Mrs. Marilynn Crow at the following email. ardyne.farm@sympatico.ca

She is not registered at WeRelate. I told her about seeing your Leslies on WeRelate and she gave permission for me to pass on her email address. If you want to use a referal just say you got her email from Marlene's husband.--HLJ411 17:27, 5 April 2009 (EDT)
