Rittgers [2 May 2010]

I am new to this site and do not understand how to make corrections. In your tree Julia Ann Rittgers 14 Nov 1824 married to Joseph Guiser the correct spelling is GEISER. They were my great great grandparents. I did not know of the first child you have Louisa, however their other children are Abraham Geiser 1844 Hocking County OH Anna Geiser 12 Nov 1845 Hockings County George 1848 Hocking county OH Elias Perry 09 Feb 1851 Fairfield OH Catherine 18 Nov 1853 Millville, Hocking County John C 07 Jan 1857 Pine Grove, Hockings County David Emanuel 02 Feb 1860 Hockings County My great grandfather Charles 1863 Hockings county

Sources are census and dates shown on information required when Julia filed and received a pension from the death of Joseph Geiser 08 May 1862 Pittsburg landing, Shilo, TN died from disease.

thank you so much for sharing the work you have done,

Daisy Rittgers Koplin [12 February 2012]

My mother-in-law is Lois Koplin Vaughn...her parents were Daisy Rittgers and Archie Koplin. She is the youngest of their family and the only surviving child. We are looking for history on the Koplins and the Rittgers. Lois's niece Sunny Graham is the daughter of Elmore Koplin, another of Archie and Daisy's children. Thank you for any information you can provide us. Also, can I obtain a copy of "the Roving Rittgers"?--Pvaughn 18:37, 12 February 2012 (EST)

Anna Rittgers m. William Wolf(e) [10 March 2014]

Hello and thank you so much for the extensive information on Anna Rittgers and her family. I am the gr-granddaughter of Isaac J. Wolfe and Chloe Hoffert/Hufford. Isaac is the son of William and Anna. For many years I was given the incorrect information that Anna's last name was Ritchie and I just couldn't connect the dots. Also, I am fairly certain Anna's 2nd husband, Abraham Hockman, was a descendant of my grade school/high school classmate, Charles Hockman (I'm waiting to hear from Charlie). Even though Charlie would not be related to me, it's very interesting that we went from Grade 1 through Grade 12 and I didn't know this info.!

I have a wonderful colorized portrait of Isaac and Chloe given to me by my Aunt Ruth Middaugh that I treasure. Isaac was a big, barrel-chested man from the evidence of the photo. He died in 1927, the year my mother, Barbara (my Grandma Ada Wolfe Middaugh always called her Barbery) was born.

Again, thank you for sharing your Rittgers work. I appreciate it very much. Ruth Ann Brehm Rutherford--Rruthe 22:31, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Catherine Rittgers lone pine ca [4 February 2019]

Hi I may be able to give some more info on Catherine and her husband John Stewart as well as their surviving son Fred B Stewart. Fred B was my husband ‘s grandfather. Fred went to UNR and studied hydrology. He came back to Owens valley and was employed as a water commissioner. That was. Turbulent time with the Mullholand’s water wars. Fred moved on, becoming a Water engineer in Northern Nevada. There he met Edith Stock, daughter of William Stock, rancher in Paradise Valley NV. They wed in 1915 in Sacramento CA. They had one son, Leslie in 1920. John Stewart (Catherine’s husband suffered a stroke while still in Lone Pine. Near the end of the 1920s they moved to Paradise Valley NV. My father in law remembered taking a narrow gauge rail from Mina NV over Montgomery Pass into Bishop and down to Lone Pine to visit his grandparents before their move to Paradise Valley. They are buried in paradise Valley NV I have a number of items from Catherine and would love to know more about her and I think her brothers. Some letters from them indicate that they worked a ranch in the southern sierras that they called the snowball ranch. I have not been able to learn more about them. I’d also like to know more about Fred B Stewart’s younger brother John. It assumes he passed between 1900-1910, but no other info. I have a number of civil war era artifacts from John Stewart’s service in Michigan Calvary, but also found a 13 star ZUS flag that may be considerably older. Would love to track its providence. Thinking it may be Rittiger--Ninetysixranch 20:03, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
