Hi, Blanche! I'm in Central Florida, too. Apopka to be exact. Just started to get my feet wet on this site. Think it has potential.

Hi, thanks for participating!

There are a few things you need to know about helping people find your pages.
  1. Its probably better to throw a bigger net at first, so you would want to have your surname in a state and not a county. Your ancestors may have moved a bit or there may be records of them in a neighboring county. You can see an example at Phillips in Texas. You can add a subtitle for each county involved by surrounding the subtitle with double =. (Select the edit button on the Phillips in Texas page and see how subtitles are created.)
  2. If you choose to list the county in the main title, it will automaticallly link to the place page if you put a comma after the word County.
  3. Links in red mean the page is empty. Click on the red links and select edit, then you can type on the page. If you hit the signature key at the top (second key from your right--has a swiggle in it), it will link to your user page.
  4. The search engine won't understand Show(e) as being two spellings. You will need to put in Show or Showe but not both. You can pur the other spelling on the actual Surname in Place page. Your names Show and Showe are both in the index as separate names.
  5. Most people searching for your lines won't put Western Maryland, they'll just say Maryland. If someone else creates a page for Show in Maryland you could be duplicating each other's work and never know it. Try to use regular country, state or county names. It increases the your chances of connecting with other researchers.
  6. You can also add links to your Surname in Place pages on the name or place pages. Go to the Search tap, select name or place, type the name or place in the box. Add [[Show in Maryland|]], (don't forget the "|" ) in the research tips section or text box.

Please keep in mind we are still in beta and don't have many people participating. The more people participate, the better chances we have of collaboration. So, tell you friends.

Thanks again for participating. Together we can make a great genealogical community. I would be glad to make these changes for you if you'd like, let me know.--sq 17:47, 10 July 2006 (MDT)

Hi, WeRelate will feature ancestor pages in a few weeks and GEDCOM uploads about December, 2006. Ancestor pages will make posting biographies very simple. This has brought up some licensing issues. Please read [[Licensing_issues_discussion_page|]] and give us your opinion. Thanks --sq 16:08, 14 August 2006 (MDT)
