Lawrence Murray, according to records and family history, married a Elizabeth Matthews thought to be a Indian maiden. He is shown as a Attorney and Adventure. In court records etc. He and his wife settled on the Clinch river near Writghts Valley close to Uriah Stones cabin in 1805 where land records show they bought land there. He was joined at some point by His Brother James and cousins John and William surname Murray, Court records show James built a Church in the area around 1787. ..............Lawrence Murray is mentioned in many court records.....for Augustus Co. Va. and in books like the Long Rifles....Early families of South Western Virginia. etc. He is thought to be the father of Reese B. Murray b. 1807 Tazewell Co. Va. According to family history Lawrence was a son of a John Lawrence Murray is shown in Wyte Co. tax records 1800 and Tazewell Co. tax records 1810. In 1820 the only person with the last name of Murray is a Nancy Murray in Tazewell Co. Va.............Reese Bowen Murray was born 1807 in Tazewell Co. Va. So it is possiable he was the son of Lawrence. Or he could have been the son of Lawrence's Beother James,cousin William etc. as records show they were all in the same area around the time of his birth.................I have never been able to find anyone looking for Murray family members from this area of Virginia, I find it hard to believe that none of them had children. From what I have seen on census records Lawrence had at least two sons,by 1810. Members of Reese B. Murray family are the only ones that I have found looking for any of the Murray's from Tazewell Co. Va................I am realy hoping to find anyone who has Murray family members from this area of Virginia.
