I have been researching my extended family for nearly twenty years. We came to America in the 19th century from Westphalia (Lengerich, Lienen) and from Waldeck (Oberwerbe, Alraft, Meineringhausen) and Hesse Darmstadt (Voehl, Klein Umstadt). I have been fortunate to build on the work of other family members, Hermann Vallbracht and Lothar Stracke in Germany, William Sievers and Robert Gruen in Illinois.
