- Cedar Mount Cemetery
- The cemetery is owned and maintained by the Cedar Mount Baptist Church. George W. Chamblee appears to be the earliest readable stone in the cemetery, and is located adjacent to the church.
- This cemetery contains some one hundred or more identical concrete markers that you can see in the photographs. These markers have no information on them. These concrete markers are apparently used to mark known burials in the cemetery. The time line of these burials is unknown. This cemetery is still in use.
- This transcription was conducted on Apr 17, 2007 and it is a complete transcription of all existing and readable stones in the cemetery. - Carl W. Dykes
- Excerpt from - 7 things to know about East Pinson Valley, including a local oasis, Turkey Creek
- East Pinson Valley is one of Alabama’s oldest communities and existed before the state was even a state. First settled in the early 19th century, East Pinson Valley was originally known as Hagood’s Crossroads which is a really cool name if you ask me! The name was a tribute to the first early settler, Zachariah Hagood and his family. Some other interesting facts:
- the community was once home to ancient Native-Americans
- it has the oldest-known Native American cave dwellings/ burial site in the U.S.
- it was home of a former slave, Andrew Jackson Beard, who became an important African-American inventor and dubbed the first millionaire of color
- it was the home of Andrew Jackson’s soldiers after the end of the Battle of Horseshoe Bend
- A man-made reserviour Tamora Lake was built close to the church, some local natives were not happy about it. Where they built that reserviour may have been considered sacred to some. That is this the researchers opinion.
