I became interested in family history like a lot of folks after watching "Roots" on TV. For the many years following that I was a part time researcher and because my job included traveling -- I visited the Family History Library in SLC many times. For the last several years I have been retired and this allows me time to do family research on a much more focused level. I am still inundated though with snippets of information gathered in the previous years. I have fleshed out many of the branches of the tree -- but there are still plenty of limbs to fill in, included the immigrant ancestor for my HILES line. I seem to have reached the same wall that many HILES searchers have come up against and that is a JOHN HILES Sr. probably born around 1750 in an undetermined place. I can document a lot from about 1789 to the present for my line, so I would really like to discover the who, when and from where of my line before that time period.
