My genealogical escapade began in earnest when I was working on my MLS at Rutgers about 7 years ago. I discovered my great-grandfather's obituary in the New York Herald. The three or four lines of text threw open the door on my mother's family and I have been researching both sides of my family ever since.

My work is primarily with the Temple family of Chicago, the Millers from all over (though Alabama, Wisconsin and Michigan, primarily) and the Kimballs from Illinois and South Dakota. We have 4 members of the family involved in the Civil War, two as soldiers and two as part of the Military Telegraph Corps. We have farmers, theater managers, telegraph operators, hotel managers, university athletic ticket managers, maids and teachers. We are Irish, Polish, Dutch, German and probably a few more I haven't stumbled across yet.
