Howell Llewelyn

Howell was known as Howell Gellilwca because he lived at Gellilwca Fawr. The farm had been occupied by his father and mother.

Howell was christened at a well known nonconformist chapel, Gellionnen, a few miles from his home. The chapel was built in 1692 and in 2007 still has worship services each Sunday.

Howell was also associated with the Independent chapel in the village of Rhydyfro. He is mentioned with other family members in the history of Rhydyfro chapel, a daughter chapel to Baran and Gellionnen.

Howell died in 1850 and is buried in the graveyard at the parish church of Llan-giwg with other family members. There must be descendants still living in the area since Howell's grave and headstone has had repair work in recent years.
