One of my ancestors is John Wicken. He lived most of his life in Cleveland, but census documents and death records give a birthplace of England and an age that would suggest a birth date of about 1808. A possible immigration record suggests a birth date of about 1805. Unfortunately, there are several dozen John Wickens born in England in the early 19th century. Here I focus on those born between 1800 and 1815, and attempt to rule out those who clearly remained in England.
Search strategy
My ancestor's name variously appears as Wicken, Wickens, Wicking, and WIcker. Using "Wickins" on FamilySearch seems to get variants Wicken, Wickens, Wickins. I very much hope that I don't need to look at Wickham, as that was a rather more common name.
