In my professional life, I was a school librarian. After retiring in 1998, I began the never-ending project of uncovering the genealogy my Porter family. I find the research very satisfying (the old librarian in me!), even when no progress seems to be made. My "Porter" database contains about 8,700 entries from about 925 sources. Wouldn't you think with all that data the puzzle pieces would fall into place? Well, they haven't: Brickwall - Levi Porter b. 1768 (perhaps MD); by 1805 to Dohrman Twp., Tuscarawas, Ohio; d. 1844 in Rush (Stillwater), Tuscarawas, OH. He's buried in the graveyard at Stillwater Presbyterian Church & his gravemarker is said to be the oldest in Tuscarawas County.
I'm joining this group because it is "share and share-alike" and hope that my database might prove to be of use to others. I'll be happy to share facts & sources with whomever might be interested.
