User:Bill Morrow/Descendants of David Morrow b. c1715 d. c1795 Spartanburg Co SC

David Morrow was born c1715, probably in Maryland, near the city of Baltimore. He had a brother, Samuel, date born unknown, but close in age to David. David's brother Samuel is better known as "Old Samuel Morrow of Spartanburg Co SC" and was designated as (102) in Worth Ray's Morrow chart on page 256 of "Tennessee Cousins" 1950. David married Mary LNU before 1750. They had children: (1) John, born c1750;(2) Robert, born 31 July 1752; (3) Samuel, born 1760 "near the citey of Baltimore"; (4) Sarah, born before 1775; (5) Mary, born before 1775. David and family moved to the Fishing Creek area of present day Chester Co SC by 1766. David and his brother Samuel obtained several adjacent land grants in this area. By 1779, they moved to the Spartanburg area of SC to avoid Torries and the British. David, Samuel, and David's son Cap't Samuel appeared in the 1790 Spartanburg Co SC census, pgs 25 & 26, last names shown as "Murrow". Old Samuel died there in 1796. No children were named in Old Samuel's will. Neither David nor his wife Mary appear in the 1800 census of SC, so we assume they died between 1790-1800.

David's son John married Mary Kelso c1774 in SC. John was killed in the Rev War at Dorchester SC in 1781. David's son Robert married widow Jane (Peden) Morton in early 1775 in SC. Robert and Jane's family moved to the Spartanburg SC area by 1776, where Robert joined the SC Militia, Spartan Regiment. By 1787 he and family moved to Greenville Co SC where they lived until 1818 when they moved to Morgan Co Alabama, where Robert died in 1823. David's son Samuel is better known as Major Samuel Morrow. He fought with the SC Militia during the Rev War. He married Jane Nelson 1781 at Fishing Creek, Chester Co SC. After the war, he and family lived at Spartanburg Co SC where he died 1842. In a 1821 deed, he refered to Old Samuel as his uncle. Nothing further is known about the daughters Sarah and Mary other than their names were shown in Rev Simpson's "Visitation Journal" of the Fishing Creek Presbyterian Congregration, entry dated 16 Jan 1775 as follows: David & Mary Morrow, Children: Robert, Samuel, Sarah, Mary. John & Mary Morrow.
