I am searching for more information on the above family names. The Meinert/Minerd/Minor/Miner branch of the tree is very well researched (see: http://www.minerd.com) and I am seeing some good research on the Plantz/Plants branch. The Alkula and Friend branches from Ohio are very much lacking.

On the Plantz/Plants branch, this tree starts with LEONHARDT Lang Jacob Plantz born abt; 1730 in Rothenstein, Palatine Bavaria, Germany and entered the USA at Philadelphia, PA on 17 October 1749 on the "FANE" from Rotterdam, via Cowes UK.

The ALKULA branch starts with J. Emil ALKULA born 30 Nov. 1875 in Finland, Married Hilda (Hilta) BJORN in Finland, they immigrated to the US, arriving at Ellis Island on 19 May 1902 with child Jenny Maria ALKULA, on the ship SS Cymric, (the ship will later be sunk during WWI). They would relocate directly to ASHTABULA, OHIO. Their fate is unknown... he did register for the draft for WWI.

Their daughter Jenny was born in Finland, and the document from Ellis Island shows her from "Lepparonta, Province Finland, she was born 9 July 1900, died July 1985 in Ashtabula Ohio area. Her brother Everett (my grandfather) was born in Ashtabula Ohio 21 July 1904, and he died Sept 1980 in Ohio. I have even less information on him. Much help is need here )

Adabell Friend ALKULA, Peterson, , Capretta was my paternal grandmother, born about 1880 Perry, Lake, Ohio died Painesville, Lake, Ohio about 1962-1963? After marrying Everett Alkula, gave birth to Venlear Joseph Alkula, my father, Ashtabula, Lake, Ohio 1927, he died Largo, Pinellas, Florida 1991... she then married Albert Wallace Peterson, Lake County Ohio.

Any assistance here will be welcomed.... I've got more information, I just need to find the scraps of paper that I have it all written down...
