The above was found in the text on page 8 of 'Wills and Administrations of Accomack County, Virginia 1663 - 1800, Compiled and Edited by Stratton Nottingham It was long mistakenly believed Jane or Ann or Elizabeth Littleton was the wife of Col. Edmund Scarborough, b. 1617. The above document provides some evidence that Ann Charlton (Charleton), born about 1621, may have been the wife of Col. Edmund Scarborough. The father of Ann Charlton is listed as 'Capt. Stephen Charleton' and he is found along with Col. Edmund Scarborough in the Virginia House of Burgesses. Miss Littleton is probably the wife of Col. Edmund's most bitter enemy in the Virginia Colony at that time. - Michael D. Barnes
