Transcript

In the name of God Amen I John Cowen of Chester District being weak
of Body but of Sound and [disp]osing Mind and memory do make and

ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say First I bequeath my Soul to God who gave it and my body to be [dutiful?]ly burried [sic] at the discretion of my Executor herein

John Cowen of Chester District, SC
after named Item I give and bequeath to my loving wife Martha my plantation during her natural life and at her decease to be given towife Martha
my son John to be his & his heirs for ever As for my goods and chattles I give them to my wife her lifetime at her death I allowSon John
them to be sold and an equal division made between my daughters

Jean Betsey and Martha to be equally Divided among them After my

Daughters Jean, (sic?) Betsey, and Martha
wifes Death as soon as John gets possession of my land I allow him to

pay to Alexander Cowen my son fifty Dollars.

I allow John also to pay to my son Robt Cowen one Dollar Son Robert
and to my son William one Dollar toson William
be paid out of my land; And I do further Constitute and appoint my son John Cowen Executor of this my last Will and testament: InSon John to be Executor
