Text

I, Amy M. Taylor, widow of Robert Taylor, deceased, who made homestead entry of the South East 1/4 of Section Twenty-seven (27) in Township Five (5) North of Range One (1) West subject to entry at Beatrice, Neb., under the first section of the Homestead Act of May 20, 1862, do now apply to perfect my claim thereto by virtue of the first proviso to the second section of said act; and for that purpose do solemnly swear that I am the widow of Robert Taylor, deceased, who was a married man, the head of a family, consisting wife and five children and was a citizen of the United States, that he made actual settlement upon and cultivated said land and resided thereon from the 29th day of April, 1871, up to the time of his death, December 7th, 1874, and that I have continued the residence and cultivation of said land up to the present time; that the said Robert Taylor went upon the said land in July 1870, intending to build a house preparatory to moving myself and children on to the land. He had been troubled with sore eyes, and when he got on to his claim, his eyes got so sore and troubled him so that he was unable to do anything and he returned to his family in Iowa, with the intention of moving his family on to his homestead claim and building a place in which to live after we should get there, but upon his return home I was sick and unable to be removed, and was not able to move until in April, 1871, when we moved upon the land in question and have continued to reside thereon up to the present time; that no part of said land has been alienated, but that I am the sole bona fide owner as an actual settler; and that I will bear true allegiance to the Government of the United States.
