White 1902 laid out the outlines of the Wigton Walker family, showing a descendancy from John Walker I of Wigton Scotland. Several generations of genealogists have relied on White for their basic understanding of their Walker ancestry. Today we know that White shows several confusions, and that not everyone in her descendancy truely descends from John Walker of Wigton. Nonetheless, White's lineages will probably dominate our understanding of the family for the foreseeable future. The following outlines the first four generations of the White Descendancy.

Finally, in using this descendancy, keep in mind that this is the way Emma White presented the family lineage. DNA results call some of these relationships into question. When a concensus opinion emerges on how to interpret these results, the creation of another descendancy chart may be warranted. See Discussion of Wigton Walker YDNA Results for a treatment of what recent YDNA test data tells us about the relationships describedin White, 1902
