__________________________ [edit] OverviewThe Teater line, headed by Person:George Teater (1), passed through Southwest Virginia briefly (1770-1782), settling in the Baker Creek area of Washington County, before moving on to Kentucky. The Teater surname is not found in this area after the end of the Revolution or shortly thereafter. There are a number of issues related to this lineage, with a number of conflicting points of view put forward by different researchers. [Summary of Issues to go here] [edit] NotebooksSubstantial information has been collected (and continues to be collected) on to various problems related to the Teater family in Southwest Virginia. These data are collected in a series of notebooks, most of which are only very loosely organized. (See: Teater Notebooks). These notebooks are currently being reorganized, and related materials placed into individual notebooks that are either "problem oriented" or "geographic oriented", depending on what seems to be the most appropriate choice. Ultimately, these notebooks are intended to provide a "records based" data set that can be used to objectively evaluate various questions concerning the Teater family history. |
